What is a self-balancing multistage centrifugal pump?

The self-balancing multistage pump uses symmetrically arranged impeller rotor components to offset the axial forces generated during operation and automatically balance, thus eliminating the need for traditional balancing discs or balancing drum structures. This design not only reduces friction loss and volume loss, but also improves overall efficiency, which is 5-14% higher than the average efficiency of ordinary multistage pumps.

Components:
The pump body consists of an inlet section, an outlet section, a stimulation inlet section, a middle section, and a double-sided transition pipe. The rotor components consist of a pump shaft, a positive impeller, a throttling device, a sealing ring, a reverse impeller, a sleeve, a bearing, and a bearing body.

Parameters:
Pump outlet diameter DN 40~300mm
Pump flow range 3.75~1200m³/h
Head range 73.5~1800M
Working pressure up to 18MPa
Working temperature up to 210°C
Pump working voltage U=380V, 6000V, 10KV.

Working principle:
The self-balancing multi-stage pump is driven by a motor or a diesel engine, which drives the liquid impeller to rotate at high speed, so that the liquid enters the water inlet section, is pressurized step by step under the action of the positive impeller, and enters through the double-sided transition pipe, stimulating the water inlet section to be acted upon by the reverse impeller, so that the axial force is balanced, and the liquid is transported to the water outlet section and discharged downstream.

Features:

  • Multi-stage design:

The self-balancing multi-stage pump consists of multiple impellers and guide vanes in series. Each impeller is responsible for converting part of the energy of the liquid into pressure energy, while the guide vanes guide the liquid to the next impeller, ensuring the continuity and smoothness of the liquid flow. This design allows the pump to work at different pressure levels.

  • Self-balancing mechanism:

The key to this pump lies in its self-balancing mechanism. During the operation of the pump, the design of each impeller and guide vane makes the pressure inside the pump evenly distributed, thereby reducing the wear of the pump body and bearings and extending the service life of the pump.

  • Guide vane balance:

After each impeller, there is usually a guide vane, which guides the liquid to the next impeller, while balancing the flow of the liquid, reducing vortices and pressure fluctuations.

  • Symmetrical layout:

The internal structural design of the pump usually adopts a symmetrical layout, which helps to reduce mechanical stress caused by pressure imbalance.

  • Bearing support:

The bearing design and position arrangement of the self-balancing multi-stage pump help to withstand and balance the forces generated by the pump during operation and reduce wear on the bearings.

  • Sealing System:

The pump's sealing system is designed to prevent fluid leakage while allowing the bearings to operate at the proper pressure, which helps maintain pressure balance inside the pump.

  • Dynamic Balancing:

In some designs, the rotors of self-balancing multistage pumps may be dynamically balanced to reduce vibrations caused by unbalanced mass.
